Mikey Wright - Guitars
“I Grew up in Albuquerque, starting guitar at age 10 and began to work at a local pro music store. By 13, music was surely in my blood and I knew that what was going to be the vehicle to ride through life on. After playing in many top Albuquerque bands (Trouble, Sassy Jones, the Coolies) it was off to Dallas to run R&D for the Charvel/Jackson guitar company. Upon returning back home I took on the guitar department at Grandmas Music where I worked with
future NBG bandmate Ryan Clement and formed a band with childhood friend and another NBG member Chuck Lucero...after a few years StrictlyTaboo, the top band locally at the time, picked me up and we worked feverishly over the next 4 years. After a needed divorce I left for LA for the next 20+ years working at Matchless Amplifiers, managing Voltage Guitars in Hollywood. All the while I was playing loads and loads of demos, sessions and various gigs. After teching on a PINK tour in 07-08 I returned back to LA. I landed in the music/television world on Rockstar Supernova, Starmaker on MTV and finally settling down on NBCs The Voice over the next 14 seasons working with many of the top musicians, singers and entertainers in the business today. After escaping LA and returning home (once again) 3 years ago, I connected with longtime friends and joined the Memphis P-Tails to continue to rock the blues. along the way I hooked up with Dave Turner and Chuck Lucero to form the nucleus of Nothing But Groove with the addition of Ryan Clement and Dave Capute to complete the combo.”
Mikey is the consummate “Guitar Geek.” He is a collector, player, and runs his own guitar repair shop Rockin' M Guitars in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
